It started with a birthday party

In 2024, three friends from Oslo wanted to throw the perfect 18th birthday party for one of their little sisters. They had the venue, the music, the guest list. All they needed was the lighting.

They bought some moving heads and LED bars online. How hard could it be? Then they opened the software.

DMX addresses. Fixture profiles. Pan/tilt limits. Universe mapping. What should have taken an evening took three weekends—and the result was still just "okay."

The party was fine. The lights worked. But sitting in that basement venue, watching their little sister dance with her friends under mediocre lighting, they couldn't stop thinking: this should be so much easier.

So we built it. An app where you describe what you want—"energetic dance floor", "romantic dinner", "chill lounge vibe"—and AI handles the rest. No manuals. No courses. No frustration.

Today, HitLight is used by bars, clubs, and venues across Europe. But we still think about that birthday party. About how technology should make magic accessible to everyone—not just professionals.

Her 19th birthday is coming up. This time, the lights will be perfect.
